Indigenous Film Festival

Films BY the Indigenous. ABOUT the Indigenous. FOR THE WORLD. Making a social impact through indigenous wisdom, stories and voices.

“Film recognises neither time nor space, only the limits of one’s imagination.”
Nicholas Ray, Director (Rebel Without A Cause, 1955)

With its beginnings in Kalimantan with the Ranu Welum Foundation, the Indigenous Film Festival has expanded to now include international festivals in Bali, India, and – since 2019 – Kuching. Seeking to showcase films made by indigenous filmmakers, the festival covers a range of moving and thought-provoking topics.

On the 5th of July, catch a preview of these powerful narratives at an outdoor Grand Screening FREE OF CHARGE before an epic 2-day festival which will include further screenings and opportunities for dialogue with the talented filmmakers themselves. Capping it all off will be an awards ceremony where the best story-tellers are crowned according to the four categories – Short Video, Documentary, Feature Film, and Young Filmmakers. Film-lovers and budding filmmakers – indigenous and otherwise – will leave these series of events truly inspired!

Hear their voices. See their stories. Feel their spirit. Be a part of INDIGENOUS ARISING.
